We recently had the opportunity to take part in the AORA Demo Day and Conference – a standout event on the industry calendar that brings together leaders, operators, suppliers, and innovators from across Australia’s organics and recycling sectors. With a focus on practical solutions and future-focused thinking, the event offered the perfect platform to showcase one of the most exciting pieces of equipment in our current line-up: the

The AORA Demo Day is unique in its ability to offer live, in-field demonstrations of equipment under real working conditions. It’s one thing to read a spec sheet – it’s another thing entirely to see a machine in action, pushing through actual feed material, and adapting to the environment around it. And this year, the Caiman 150 didn’t just perform — it exceeded expectations.

From the moment it fired up, all eyes were on the Caiman. The machine’s compact design made it easy to transport and manoeuvre within the demonstration site, but don’t let its size fool you – the Caiman packed serious power. It handled varied organic waste streams with ease, delivering consistent throughput and minimal blockages, even as conditions shifted throughout the day.

Beyond the technical performance, the demo created a valuable space for genuine interaction. Attendees were encouraged to get up close to the machine, ask questions, and explore its features first-hand. It was a great opportunity for customers and industry professionals to engage with a product in a hands-on environment — something that’s often missing from traditional showroom or sales settings.

Following the demo day, the energy continued at the AORA Conference Expo, where we had the chance to speak further with industry stakeholders about the role of compact, efficient machinery in meeting today’s recycling and organics challenges. Conversations ranged from machine applications to broader sustainability goals — all reinforcing the importance of investing in the right equipment for long-term success.

Last week we celebrated 35 years in business, celebrating growing from a small parts distributor to now Australia's most extensive mineral processing and handling solutions provider.

The festivities kicked off on Wednesday with a fun-filled day for our dedicated OPS staff, families and children. The following two days, Thursday and Friday, were dedicated to our valued customers and business partners. We opened our Bibra Lake facility for an Open Day, allowing them to explore our operations, equipment and facility first hand.

The week culminated in a spectacular evening celebration. We were honoured to host our customers, suppliers, and business partners who journeyed from all over the world to join us. We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this celebration possible, especially those who travelled from afar to share this special occasion with us.

It was wonderful to witness the enthusiasm and engagement from our staff, suppliers, customers, and business partners as they embraced the initiative and shared their excitement for the project's future.

The OPS Group are happy to announce with the collaboration of Terex and Finlay we have been working on a project to align and work with an Australian charity, we’re proud to announce our official partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), commencing in early 2024.

Through this partnership, we have acquired a Finlay 883+ dedicated to a fundraising campaign supporting breast cancer research. This machine, custom-branded with the NBCF logo and proudly painted pink, will join our rental fleet. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for breast cancer research. A portion of the revenue generated from renting this unique machine will be contributed to the foundation, supporting their vital vision of achieving Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

           “

At OPS we have long aspired to undertake a project of this nature and seeing it come to fruition fills us with immense sense of pride”, said Shane Czerkasow, Director at OPS. “Our objective is to align with NBCF’s mission by contributing to breast cancer research, working towards their 5-year vision of zero deaths from breast cancer”. “As we worked on the project with our business partners and suppliers around the world it was evident the widespread effect of breast cancer, as the room was constantly filled with individuals sharing stories of “My mum, My best friend, My sister and even Me” as people shared their stories of being affected. “With the machine now arriving in Australia we look forward to working with our customers to further raise awareness and for the NBCF foundation”.

“When OPS approached me with this idea, I was more than happy to support it,” said Joe Donnelly, Regional Sales Director for Finlay. “Cancer has impacted the lives of countless individuals in one way or another, and this initiative provides us with a great opportunity to make a positive difference. A big, bright, pink machine is not something you’d often see in our industry so I’ve no doubt it will be a talking point on the various rental projects it will be involved in. We hope this awareness will highlight the importance of early detection and provide a positive ripple effect on the lives it touches.”

           Why NBCF ?

In 2022, 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer amongst women in Australia.

In 2022, Over 20,000 Australians will be diagnosed with breast cancer (including around 200 men).

Around 1000 of those diagnosed are women aged under 40. That is about 3 women under 40 years old diagnosed every day.

Since NBCF’s inception in 1994, the death rates from breast cancer in Australia have reduced by 43% thanks in large part to continued investment in world class research towards Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

A Significant Milestone for all those involved,

This initiative marks a significant achievement, being the first time Terex has agreed to collaborate with a dealership through a charitable partnership and paint a machine in the charity colours, despite requests from dealerships all over the world. Additionally, the project is set to enable OPS to make the largest first-year corporate partnership donation in the history of the NBCF from a fundraising campaign.

However, they faced a significant challenge when they experienced flooding and extensive road damage in their area. The floods caused severe damage to the roads, particularly in isolated and high terrain areas. To repair these roads, the Council needed a product on the ground quickly.

The Council usually sourced a crushing contractor to process their aggregate in isolated Shire-owned quarries. However, no contractor was willing to take on the contract due to the set-up times versus the product to be processed and the location of the quarries that were difficult to access due to terrain and road conditions. As a result, the Council faced a significant problem, and they needed a solution as quickly as possible.

           The Solution:

After considering several options, the Shire Council in New South Wales reached out to MPS for help. The Council was looking for equipment that could handle the isolated terrain and still make the TPH required to repair the roads quickly. MPS's equipment was a great fit for the Council's needs. Our equipment was not only compact, but it was also easy to transport, requiring only one float, and could be roll-on and roll-off the float and put in action immediately.

MPS recommended the compact EvoQuip gear, which proved to be an ideal solution for the Council's problem. The equipment was small enough to access the quarries' difficult terrain and road conditions, and it had high TPH rates. The EvoQuip gear could crush the aggregate efficiently in an isolated environment, making it perfect for the Council's needs.

           The outcome:

When the council began crushing, they faced a few challenges. The Jaw opening was too wide, and they were getting too much oversized material during screening. The MPS team stepped up and assisted by adjusting the Jaw's electronic function. With this change, they achieved what the customers desired outcome with very little oversize left to process.

MPS's solution was cost-effective, efficient, and eco-friendly, and the compact EvoQuip gear was perfect for the job. The council was pleased with MPS's service from the beginning to the end of the project, and even the sceptical Excavator Operator was happy with the results.

The project was a success, despite difficult terrain and road conditions, and MPS's equipment and expertise provided an efficient and cost-effective solution. This project shows how MPS can handle tough problems and provide solutions that work well.

OPS were approached by a customer to provide a rapid solution for a nickel scats processing plant.

In combination with Steinert Australia, an existing stock Steinert magnetic drum module was identified. OPS were then engaged to provide the following ancillary project services to pull the entire project together:

Engineering, design and fabrication of a customised support structure and access platform to house the Steinert magnetic drum module, including customised chutes to suit OPS supplied conveyors with bolt in wear lining

Identification of ‘off the shelf’ bulk materials handling equipment to support the process, including a hopper feeder to be fed with a front end loader, over band magnet for removal of large ferrous contaminants and discharge stackers to suit discharge configuration of existing Steinert magnetic drum module

Full plant integration, including a live dry run of equipment at our Bibra Lake works to demonstrate operations to stakeholders

Liaise and work in with customer’s electrical contractor for development of control methodology and integration of instrumentation and control

The resulting plant and equipment solution project was executed from conception to delivery in just six weeks. OPS continue to work with the customer on the next stage of this development.

Gulkula Bauxite Mine is the Australian first Aboriginal owned and operated mine since it opened four years ago

Gumatj Corporation operates rehabilitating it by collecting and propagating seed use to re-sow the ground after it had been mined. Once the ground is prepared, seed collected on the mine site over the year is spread over this area. Tube stock trees and shrubs grown in the Gulkula nursery from seeds collected across the mine are also planted to support the land rehabilitation.

Bauxite can be crushed and screened to a suitable for end users. OPS Screening and Crushing aimed to provide its expertise and leading advice to Gumatj Corporation, and supplied a Terex Finlay J-1175 Jaw Crusher , a Terex Finlay 883+ Reclaimer , and a Terex Finlay I-120 Impactor to make this project become a successful reality.

           The Problem:

The Train Loadout (TLO) on this Iron Ore mine has a significantly higher capacity than the Ore Processing Facility (OPF). In order to operate the TLO efficiently, a further 2,000TPH of material needs to be introduced into the TLO from the stockyard during train loading operations.

           The Solution:

MPS supplied a Telestack HF 24T Mobile Hopper Feeder. This unique machine is fully mobile, so it can be quickly relocated along a fixed conveyor in the stockyard to reduce loader tramming distance. With a hopper capacity of 24m3 (50-60T of Iron Ore), It will be loaded simultaneously by 2 CAT 992 loaders and discharge into the TLO conveyor circuit.

           Outcomes:

The client is now able to operate the TLO at full capacity reducing the time trains spend loading on site. This reduced the time the iron ore takes to get from pit to port and has improve the rail cycle time and increased the rail potential capacity.

The Telestack HF24T can be easily relocated from site to site on a standard 75T float loaded under its own power with no cranes, basic Western Power permits, no police escorts and no power line lifts. When on site it can be tracked into position and folded out under its own power with no tools or cranes required. When in position it can be connected to an electrical power source with the attached Cable/plug and can be operational within a very short period of time.

This makes the Telestack HF24Tan ideal permanent or mobile emergency feeder to use in the case of planned or unplanned maintenance across your multiple mining operations, stockyard, port or bulk material handling operation.
